Sebastian Sturm (* 1980 in Aachen ) is a German reggae musician.

Life

He was born in 1980 to an Indonesian mother and a German father and grew up in the three-country triangle of Holland, Belgium and Germany. At the age of 14, he founded his first punk band, but over time he discovered his love for reggae more and more. He performed in dance halls, founded the reggae band Jogit Beat and thus became known in the reggae and dance hall scene of the border triangle.

After his old band Jogit Beat split up in 2005, he started working with the reggae band JIN JIN. His third album was released in 2011 under the title Get up & Get going on Rootdown Records . He is accompanied on the album by his band Exile Airline , which included members of the JIN JIN band. Sebastian Sturm plays in the current line-up with Joonas Lorenz (keyboards), Shadi Heinrich (guitar), Christian Golz (bass) and Tobias Pötsch (drums).

In 2018 he toured Germany, Austria and Switzerland together with Dellé , Ganjaman , Jahcoustix and the backing band Klub Kartell .

Musically Sebastian Sturm is assigned to roots reggae . He sings only in English. In France he is even better known than in DA-CH , as he toured nationwide several times there as the opening act for fully established bands such as Danakil . For the fourth album A Grand Day Out , he worked with Jamaican co-producers Sam Clayton Jr. and Stephen Stewart . Since the fifth album The Kingston Session (2015) the band name is officially Sebastian Sturm & Exile Airline .
