Secret Maryo Chronicles is a free open-source 2D - Jump 'n' Run game, which the Sidescroll is principle based and a level editor features, can be created with the own scenario. It was published by PCtipp , PC-Welt and heise.de as Super-Mario-Bros. Clone described. Secret Maryo Chronicles is maintained and further developed by the Secret Maryo Chronicles development team, which is led by Florian Richter ("FluXy").
Game development
Secret Maryo Chronicles began as a SourceForge project in January 2003 and expanded to its final release in 2009. The game is based on the graphic interface OpenGL , has an original soundtrack and a built-in level editor. It was released under version 3 of the GNU General Public License .
Game flow
Gold pieces and bonus items that give the character additional functions can be collected. For 100 gold coins you get an additional life. Bonus worlds can be reached via pipes and openings. After defeating the boss, Maryo gets the princess.
reception
The game Secret Maryo Chronicles has been listed by APC Magazine in the January issue of 2008 as number one of the open source video games. The star praised the speed of the game and the puzzle solving. The game was the magazine El Heraldo as one of the most promising open source game called 2008 and today named as well-made violent game for children. The computer game was published on the DVD c't software collection 6/2009. Networld complained that aufkomme "never really the right Mario feeling despite the very strong similarity" and recommends the computer game yet because there is a lack of platformers Run give -Play for the PC.
