Section 25

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Section 25 is a band that released records on the now defunct British label Factory Records in the 1980s . The band was formed in April 1978 by the brothers Vincent and Lawrence John, called "Larry" Cassidy in Blackpool , Lancashire .

After the debut album Always Now produced by Martin Hannett , Ian Curtis and Rob Gretton in 1981 and The Key of Dreams , which was released on Factory Benelux in 1982 , Section 25 brought out the most successful album From The Hip in 1984 (co-produced by Bernard Sumner of New Order ) . With From The Hip , Section 25 said goodbye to the sound of the early years influenced by Martin Hannett and followed the trend set by New Order at Factory in 1983 with more danceable electro tracks. The following single Looking From A Hilltop becomes a club success not only in the label's own discotheque Fac 51 Haçienda . The best known songs from Section 25 are The Beast (LP: 'The Key Of Dreams' and 12 ") and Inspiration (LP: 'From The Hip').

In 2007, Part-Primitive, the comeback album that has been worked on for years, is released. Jenny Cassidy , Larry's wife, who died of cancer in 2004, can be heard for the last time on this album . Larry Cassidy died on February 27, 2010 at the age of 56 in his hometown of Blackpool , Lancashire .
