The Section peak is a small yet distinctive hill from sandstone in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It towers at the north end of the Lichen Hills .
Scientists from a 1962-1963 New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition campaign mapped and named him. It is named after the fact that the hill has one of the few visible banks ( English stratigraphic section ) of sedimentary rock in this area.
