The Lac d'Annecy (German Lake Annecy ) is located in the Haute-Savoie department in France . It is the sixth largest lake in France ( excluding the French part of Lake Geneva ).
The Lac d'Annecy is fed by mountain rivers with water of drinking water quality. The corresponding quality of the lake itself was achieved again after the discharge of sewage was radically prohibited and the last supply lines were forcibly closed by divers in the late 1960s. That is why the lake is marketed as “the cleanest lake in Europe”.
Physical data
The lake has a length of 14.6 km, the width varies from 800 m between Duingt and the Roc de Chère to 3.35 km between Veyrier-du-Lac and Sévrier . On a total area of 27.59 km², an average of 15 million m³ evaporate per year, which together with the runoff over the Thiou causes a complete water exchange every four years. The water level averages 446.80 m at the southern end of the lake and 446.40 m in Annecy, which means a gradient of 0.0027%. The average temperature is 6 ° C in January and 22 ° C in July.
Due to a long dry season in 1817 and heat without rain in 1906 and 1947, water levels were recorded well below normal. In 2003 the water level dropped 35 cm below normal in July.
sport and freetime
The lake is also an important recreational area for the surrounding regions.
On the east bank of Lake Annecy near Talloires rises a rock face that climbers use for deep water soloing .
