Popiel-Seebeck

Popiel-Seebeck , initially also Seebeck-Popiel , in the end just Popiel , was a municipality that existed in the 19th century in the southwest of the Fürstenthum district in the Prussian province of Pomerania .

The community was formed after 1846 from farms and land that during the separation were separated from the surrounding villages. The Vorwerke Groß Seebeck, Klein Seebeck and Eichhof as well as Knakenkaten and two other wood-keepers' cottages, which were separated from Sternin , were combined under the name Seebeck. The Braunshof and Henselskathen farms separated from Kölpin and the Bastenkathen and Seehof farms separated from Schmuckenthin were merged under the name Popiel. The place name Popiel was derived from the local forest, which was called Popiel . The new municipality, which was called Popiel-Seebeck, initially also Seebeck-Popiel, initially covered an area of 806 hectares (as of 1861) and had 131 inhabitants (as of 1855). The inhabitants lived from agriculture and forestry, but agriculture suffered from the sandy and sterile soils.

Before 1864 Seebeck was removed from the community and assigned to neighboring manor districts. The remaining municipality Popiel covered an area of 235 hectares (as of 1864) and had 87 inhabitants (as of 1871).

The Popiel community was dissolved around 1880. The municipal area was later mainly afforested. In 1905, part of the former municipal area became part of the newly formed Sophienwalde forest estate , which existed until 1928. From 1928 to 1945 the entire former municipality area belonged to the municipality of Reselkow . Today it is located in Poland in the Gmina Rymań area .
