After this department was closed, the Tactical Center was placed under the Naval Operations School in Bremerhaven in 1993 . After setting up a new simulator in Bremerhaven, it was combined with other training institutions to form the Marine Tactics Center.

tasks

The tasks of the marine tactical teaching group included the promotion of the tactical training of the floating associations, the further development and testing of the tactics and the investigation of tactical and operational problems. Their mission was organized along the lines of the British Royal Naval Tactical School

  • to promote the tactical training of the naval and sea air forces ,
  • examine tactical and operational problems and
  • to develop tactics further and work out practicable solutions and procedures.

The Maritime Tactical Training Group represented the German Navy in matters of maritime tactics in the responsible NATO working group , the Maritime Tactical Working Party (MTWP).

organization

The marine tactical training group was led by a commander with the rank of a frigate captain , later a sea captain . It was initially divided into the teaching group, the technical group and the operation and equipment group. It was later reorganized into the Training, Tactics and Operations groups.

education

In 1958, the Naval Tactical Training Group received a tactical simulator called Advanced Speed Tactical Trainer (ASTT) for training purposes . In November 1975 the device was replaced by a new ASTT, which at the time was considered the most modern of its kind in the world.

Training for the fleet was mainly offered. This included courses for the various naval flotillas , which, as type commands, were responsible for the special tactics of destroyers , speedboats , mine forces , submarines , naval aviators and other naval forces. Another focus was simulator exercises to prepare for larger fleet maneuvers. In addition, courses were held for officers who took part in tactical training at the naval location school or other naval schools.
