The Seewind 1 is a crew transfer vessel operated by the Husum- based North Frisian Offshore GmbH with a home port of Pellworm .

concept

In the course of the construction of offshore wind farms , there is a need for the transport of personnel to the construction sites and also for maintenance purposes to the completed wind turbines . So-called crew transfer vessels are used for this. These are mostly relatively small boats with a passenger capacity of max. 12 people.

This is where the North Frisian Offshore GmbH concept comes in. With the Seewind 1 , a ship is available that has a significantly higher passenger capacity. In this way, up to 90 workers can be transported to the wind farms at the same time, so that the transport can be more efficient and cost-effective.

history

The Seewind 1 was built in 2000 as a passenger ferry Namdalingen for a Norwegian company and used in internal Norwegian traffic. In 2014, North Frisian Offshore GmbH acquired the ship and converted it for its own purposes, before it received its first charter contract operating from Heligoland in June 2014 .
