Sehithwa is a place in the Northwest District in Botswana . It is the largest place on Lake Ngami .
geography
In 2011 Sehithwa had 2748 inhabitants. The place is on the northwest shore of Lake Ngami in flat terrain. It belongs to the sub-district Ngamiland East .
Economy and Infrastructure
Sources of income include fishing and selling dried fish . Around 13,000 tons of dried fish were produced each year and exported to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia . In April 2017, however, the export was banned for one year so that the stocks could regenerate. The ban was criticized because of the economic consequences for the population - it would only remain a poorly paid job in a "protection program". It is also expected that the lake will dry out, so that the fish stocks will then disappear anyway.
Sehithwa is on the A3 trunk road , which runs east-west and connects Francistown with Ghanzi , among other things . The A35 branches off to the north and leads to Namibia . When the water level is low, a road on the lake bed leads southeast to Botlhatlogo.
