The North West District (formerly North-West District ; German Northwest District ) is a district of Botswana , which was created in 2001 from the amalgamation of the districts of Chobe and Ngamiland . In 2006, however, the eastern Chobe District was detached from the North West District. The North West District is divided into the sub- districts Ngamiland North , Ngamiland South and Delta . His seat of government is in Maun , the largest city in the district. 152,284 people live in an area of approx. 80,000 km².
In the North West District are the Okavango Delta and Lake Ngami .
