Rope climbing
Under rope climbing or Tauklettern , Tauhangeln refers to the climbing on a rope . Tauhangeln was an Olympic competition at the beginning of the 20th century; in 1896 won Nikolaos Andriakopoulos competition. The last competition in rope hanging took place at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles; it won Raymond Henry "Benny" bass . Today rope climbing as a sport is no longer of major importance. At sea sports around competition is part Tauklettern to the country disciplines, but nowadays rarely advertised in competitions.
Outside of sport, rope climbing has found its way into the professional world as a professional climbing technique, for example in the field of tree care or technical climbing. In many cases, climbing with rope assistance has proven to be a flexible, inexpensive and environmentally friendly alternative to using scaffolding or aerial work platforms . The double rope technique is usually used to secure the climber and to transport equipment and material .
