The Barons von Seiller are a family of lower nobility from southern Styria , whose direct line of tribe goes back to Kaspar Seiller .

history

Kaspar Seiller was kuk court and court advocate in Marburg an der Drau and died there in 1815. His son Johann Kaspar von Seiller (1802–1888) was kuk court and court advocate in Vienna and president of the Vienna City Council . In this position he was raised to the Austrian knighthood with the award of the Leopold Order on March 15, 1850 in Vienna . In the next function Johann Kaspar von Seiller was mayor of Vienna and was raised to the Austrian baron on January 19, 1860 with a diploma from April 6, 1860 . Motto: "Fortiter in re, suaviter in modo."

Johann Kaspar's brother Anton Seiller was an entrepreneur (wholesaler and factory owner) in Lower Styria and Krain (today's Slovenia) and in Timisoara / Banat . This branch of the family has meanwhile expired.

With the Nobility Repeal Act of 1919, the nobility themselves and the nobility designations have expired in Austria . Some descendants still live in Vienna today, their family name being Seiller without "von".
