Seken Turysbekow (* 22. March 1961 in Rajon Ürschar , oblast East Kazakhstan , Soviet Union ) is a Kazakh musician and composer.
Life
Seken Turysbekow first attended the Mukan Tulebayew Music School in Semipalatinsk and then studied at the Kazakh National Conservatory Kurmangasy in Alma-Ata . Since 1980 he has published recordings of his music.
He directed a folk-ethnographic ensemble and was chief conductor of the state chamber orchestra Ak Schaun ( Weißer Regen ). In 2001 he became artistic director of the ensemble Қоңыр қаз ( The Geese ) at the Eurasian National University in Astana .
Seken Turysbekow performed at the Voice of Asia Festival in Almaty , among others .
music
Turysbekov plays several traditional instruments. He is one of the last instrumentalists to master the Kazakh national instrument , the dombra and its various varieties. In his homeland he was also known as a composer and wrote songs for the Kazakh singer Makpal Zhunusova .
