Sekhonyana Nehemia Maseribane
Chief Sekhonyana Nehemia Maseribane (born May 4, 1918 in Mount Moorosi , Quthing District , † November 3, 1986 ) was a politician in Lesotho .
The son of a morena was Prime Minister of the British crown colony Basutoland from May 6, 1965 to July 7, 1965 , which became independent as Lesotho in 1966. Like his successor Leabua Jonathan , he was a member of the Basutoland National Party (BNP). In his government, Maseribane was then deputy prime minister for a long time.
When the BNP lost to the Basutoland Congress Party (BCP) in the January 1970 election, Maseribane and then Finance Minister Chief Peete Peete advised Prime Minister Jonathan to declare a state of emergency and cancel the election, which he then did.
