Seki Hiroharu

Seki Hiroharu ( Japanese 関 寛 治 ; born March 31, 1927 in Tokyo Prefecture ; † December 15, 1997 ) was a professor of political science specializing in peace studies at Ritsumeikan University and the University of Tokyo .

Life

Seki attended middle and high school in Shizuoka . After finishing school, he went to Tokyo University and completed a law degree there, which he graduated in 1953. He became a research assistant at the Institute for East Asian Studies at Kokugakuin University. He later moved back to Tokyo University, where he became an assistant professor of East Asian Studies. He then worked as a professor in the international relations department at Ritsumeikan University.

He is one of the founders of the Japanese Society for Peace and Conflict Studies, and was its chairman from 1973 to 1975. Before his retirement he was rector of the University of Hiroshima from 1975 to 1979 .
