The Essen section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) e. V. ( DAV Essen for short ) is a section of the German Alpine Club in Essen . The DAV Essen is therefore one of the older and with 4192 members (as of December 31, 2018) one of the larger sections of the German Alpine Club at number 73. It was founded in 1885 as the Rothe Erde section .
