Emil Ehrensberger

Emil Ehrensberger (born September 25, 1858 in Babenhausen ; † May 8, 1940 in Traunstein ) was a German chemist and industrial manager .

Life

Ehrensberger was a son of the Bavarian district judge and later district administrator Hieronymus Ehrensberger and his wife Julie, nee. Wülfert. He studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg and initially worked as a chemist in the Kruppschen Hermannshütte in Neuwied . Ehrensberger was a board member from 1899 to 1916 and then moved to the supervisory board of Friedrich Krupp AG . Its main merit is the application of scientific research results to the production of stainless steel .

His important watch collection is exhibited today as a foundation in the Augustinermuseum in Freiburg im Breisgau . Ehrensberger was made honorary citizen of the city of Traunstein in 1919 . His resting and retirement home in Traunstein had an observatory on the roof that is still in use today.

In 1913 he was awarded the Liebig Memorial Coin by the Association of German Chemists .
