Selenicereus hamatus is a species of plant in the genus Selenicereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Selenicereus hamatus grows splayed with up to 4 meters long, triangular or square shoots that reach a diameter of up to 1.5 centimeters. Spurs up to 1 centimeter long or hooked bumps sit on the shoots below the areoles . The few thorns are short and weak.

The fragrant, yellowish white to white flowers are 20 to 35 centimeters long. The fruits are not described.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Selenicereus hamatus is distributed in southern Mexico in the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz . The first valid description as Cereus hamatus was published in 1837 by Ludwig Georg Karl Pfeiffer . Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose placed them in the genus Selenicereus in 1909 .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
