Selman Weniaminowitsch Kleinerman

Selman Sulrich Weniaminowitsch Kleinerman ( Russian Зельман (Зульрих) Вениаминович Клейнерман ; * 1867 in Białystok , Russian Empire ; † after 1930 in Samara , USSR ) was a Russian architect . The Choral Synagogue in Samara is one of his works .

biography

Kleinerman studied at the technical colleges in Białystok and St. Petersburg (1891). He began his architectural career in a construction office in Samara. In 1900 he was an architect for the state government and had an office on Saratovskaya Street, Chelishev's house.

He worked in private practice until the February Revolution of 1917 . He built residential, public and religious buildings in Samara and surrounding settlements. Kleinerman's buildings shaped the architectural appearance of the city of Samara in the early 20th century.

After the February Revolution of 1917, he stopped designing. According to some reports, he was arrested in 1919 and sent to prison for a while. In the 1930s he worked as an engineer . The further fate of the architect since the 1930s is unknown.
