Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum leucanthum grows as an almost spherical, fairly flat rosette plant with a diameter of 4 to 7 centimeters and forms loose mats. Their strong runners are 5 to 8 inches long. The oblong spatulate, small-pointed leaves are finely downy-haired. They are light green with a dark red tip. The leaf blade is 20 to 35 millimeters long and 8 to 10 millimeters wide. The leaf margin is covered with glandular or non-glandular eyelashes of unequal length .

Generative characteristics

The flowering shoot reaches a length of 15 to 20 centimeters. It has leaves that are slightly smaller than those of the leaf rosette . The inflorescence consists of sticky cymes with three forked coils. The 11 to 13-fold flowers have a diameter of about 2.5 centimeters. Their broadly lanceolate, small-pointed, about 5 millimeter long sepals are fused together over a length of up to 2.5 millimeters. They are green and have a purple tip. The oblong to linear-lanceolate, pointed or tapering, whitish to greenish petals have a length of 10 to 13 millimeters and are about 1 millimeter wide. The almost bare, differently colored stamens are usually pink in color . The anthers are yellow. The stylus is about 3 millimeters long. The almost square nectar flakes are greenish.
