description

Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum sosnowskyi grows as a slender, elongated rosette plant with a diameter of 10 to 12 centimeters (rarely up to 15 centimeters). The oblong spatulate, short and gradually tapering leaves in the upper third are glabrous and ciliate. The tip is reddish. The leaf blade is 60 to 80 millimeters long and 15 to 25 millimeters wide.

Generative characteristics

The densely leafed, scarcely and short downy-haired flower shoot reaches a length of 30 to 40 centimeters and a diameter of 15 millimeters. It has tongue-shaped leaves, heart-shaped at the base, which are slightly longer and wider than those of the leaf rosette . The compact, equilateral inflorescence consists of forked coils and usually several, small, axillary coils. The short-stalked, 14 to 16-fold flowers have a diameter of 3 to 3.5 centimeters. Their oblong, ovate, blunt petals , bare on the inside, are reddish at the tips. The linear-lanceolate sepals are greenish yellow, have a green stripe in the middle and are lilac-colored at their base. The stamens are lilac-colored, the bare anthers yellow. The nectar flakes are oblong transversely.
