Dhangadhi ( Nepali धनगढी नगरपालिका ) is a city in the far west of Nepal in the Kailali district in the Sudurpashchim province .
history
Dhangadhi obtained its municipal status (3rd order city law) in 1976.
In September 2015, the neighboring communities Phulbari and Urma were incorporated. Dhangadhi then received 2nd order city rights.
In the course of the restructuring of the local level and the creation of the Gaunpalikas (rural communities) by amalgamating and abolishing the Village Development Committees on March 10, 2017, some wards of the VDC Geta were incorporated.
geography
It is located in the Terai in the Kailali district of the Seti administrative zone on the border with the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh at an altitude of 176 m .
Dhangadhi was the economic and administrative center of the Seti zone and has been the administrative seat of the Kailali district since the administrative zones were dissolved.
There is a small airport with regular connections to Kathmandu .
The urban area of Dhangadhi extends between the two rivers of Mohana (in the west and south) and Khutia (in the east). It grew through the incorporation in 2015 from 103.7 km² to 120 km² and after the incorporation of Geta to 261.75 km².
Residents
At the 2011 census, Dhangadhi had 101,970 inhabitants (including 51,439 men) in 21,030 households. Including the VDCs Phulbari and Urma , the population was 137,666. As a result of the incorporation in 2017, the population grew to almost 148,000.
climate
The climate is subtropical with very hot summers and mild winters. The monsoon starts at the beginning of June and lasts until September.

- Aishwarya Multiple Campus would be established in BS 2063 (2003 AD). The college is part of Tribhuwan University , Kirtipur , Kathmandu , Nepal and is responsible for the university's Bachelor program. The following degrees are offered: B.Sc (Bachelor of Science), BBS (Bachelor of Business Studies).
- Dhangadhi Engineering College was established in 2057 BS (2000 AD). The college is part of Pokhara University , Nepal and is responsible for the university's Bachelor program. The following degrees are offered: Bachelor of Computer Engineering (BE Computer), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), and Bachelor of Civil Engineering (BE Civil).
- Nepal Western Academy is another well-known college and is located in the neighboring village of Santoshi Tole. It also belongs to Pokhara University. BBA BI and BHM programs are offered.
- National Academy of science and technology (Uttar Behendi)
- Western International Business School (LN chowk). BBA and MBA programs are currently offered. The college is part of the Delta International University of New Orleans USA
