Senad Podojak (born May 31, 1966 in Zenica ) is a Bosnian Islamic religious functionary in Austria .

Life

Podojak attended the Gazi-Husrev-Beg-Medresa in Sarajevo from 1981 to 1985; in the second grade he was made a muezzin . Podojak became a Hafiz at the age of 20 and is internationally known as a Koran reciter. In 1987 he took part in the International Quran Recitation Competition in Mecca , where he took 5th place. Podojak reached 4th place in Tehran , 1st in Vienna in 1990 and 6th place in Moscow in 2010. In the 1990s he recorded an album with songs from the Bosnian War with Yusuf Islam , Dino Merlin and Aziz Alili .

Podojak has been the specialist inspector for religious education at the Islamic Religious Education Institute since 2005 .

In 2013 Podojak and his association were honored for their longstanding integration and cooperation with the city of Wels, in which the street of the association, in which Podojak has been active for 25 years, was renamed "Bosniaks' Square".

At the end of 2014 he completed his master's degree in Islamic religious education at the University of Vienna, with the academic title "Master of Arts". On May 30, 2015, Podojak was awarded a recognition by the mayor of the city of Wels, Peter Koits , “for his many years of activity in the sense of humanity and international understanding as well as his commitment to peaceful coexistence in the city of Wels”.

Podojak lives and works in Wels .

He is married and has two children.
