Senecio fruticulosus is a low, perennial subshrub that reaches heights of 5 to 15 centimeters. The undivided leaves are elongated, distantly toothed and narrowed at the base. The base of the stem leaves is slightly eared and glabrous. The plant has one or a few heads.

The flowering period extends from June to August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 20.

Occurrence

Senecio fruticulosus is endemic to Crete . The species grows in hedgehog cushion heath and on scree slopes at altitudes of 1400 to 2400 meters, rarely above 1000 meters.
