Senegalese tata at Chasselay
The Senegalese Tata near Chasselay is a cemetery of honor and memorial for those involved in the Chasselay massacre and in fighting and other massacres around Les Chères , Montluzin , Chasselay, Lentilly , Fleurieux , L'Abresle and Lyon on June 19 and 20, 1940 from the SS Totenkopf Division and other units murdered and killed 188 Tirailleurs sénégalais (in German: Senegal Riflemen).
The cemetery in the canton of Limonest was inaugurated on November 8, 1942 by Jean Marciani, the head of the Association of Veterans and War Disabled in the Département Rhône .
In West Africa , Tata means something like "strip of holy earth", where the warriors who have fallen in battle are buried.
