Senoner is a family name from Selva in Val Gardena , which is one of the most common names in Val Gardena .
Origin and original distribution
The name originated in Selva in the 17th century by modifying the original da Zanon . Zanon was a homestead that originally belonged to a Johann . Johann da Zanon, a descendant of this Johann and son of Christian da Zanon, died in 1622. His son Christoph was born in 1608. Already four generations later, Senones are occupied in all four Val Gardena communities (including the Castelrotto fraction Bulla ).
Current distribution
According to the Autonomous South Tyrolean Statistics Institute (ASTAT), Senoner is the most common family name of Ladin origin in South Tyrol: In 2010, 902 Senoners lived in South Tyrol (34th place overall), with 647 namesake in Val Gardena, Senoner is the most common in the valley and in the Salten-Schlern district community (757) .
