Simona Senoner (born June 13, 1993 in Bolzano ; † January 7, 2011 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was an Italian ski jumper , living in St. Christina in Val Gardena .
Simona Senoner made her debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup on January 18, 2006 in Toblach . In her first season, however, she remained unsuccessful and pointless. At the Junior World Championships in Zakopane in 2008 she jumped from the normal hill in tenth place. On September 13, 2008 she reached the points in Lillehammer with 28th place for the first time. After further good placements, Senoner reached 50th place in the overall Continental Cup ranking at the end of the 2008/09 season . At the Junior World Championships 2010 in Hinterzarten , she jumped from the normal hill to 32nd place. The 2009/10 season she finished in 68th place overall.
In 2009 and 2011 she won the bronze medal at the Italian Junior Championships.
On January 6, 2011, she was found unconscious in her hotel in Furtwangen before the Continental Cup competitions in Schonach . She was taken to the neurosurgical intensive care unit at the University Clinic in Freiburg im Breisgau, where she died in an irreversible coma at 6:15 p.m. the following day. An autopsy arranged by the Konstanz public prosecutor revealed that her death was caused by a virus infection .
Simona was buried on January 12, 2011 in St. Christina with great sympathy. In addition to relatives and friends, her team from the Val Gardena Ski Club, trainer Fabian Ebenhoch , most of the ski jumpers of the Italian national jumping and Nordic combined teams and officials of the FISI paid their last respects.
Simona Senoner was a niece of the former ski racer Peter Runggaldier .
