Public Prosecutor Constance

The Konstanz Public Prosecutor's Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for the district of the Konstanz Regional Court .

Tasks and responsibilities

In accordance with the jurisdiction of the District Court of Constance, the district of the public prosecutor's office includes the districts of the district courts of Donaueschingen , Konstanz , Radolfzell , Singen , Stockach , Überlingen and Villingen-Schwenningen . Around 580,000 citizens live in the area of responsibility. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Konstanz reports to the General Public Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe (Section 147 GVG ). It belongs to the so-called Baden area of law, in which, among other things, the “ Baden file node ” is traditionally used in ordinary jurisdiction and the public prosecutor's offices to bind files.

The public prosecutor's office in Konstanz currently (end of 2008) has one senior public prosecutor , four senior public prosecutors , fourteen public prosecutors and seven public prosecutors as prosecutors. A total of 77 people are employed by the Konstanz public prosecutor's office (proportion of female employees: 54). According to the organizational statute of the public prosecutor's offices ( administrative regulation of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Justice ), the Konstanz public prosecutor's office as a judicial authority is divided into four investigation departments, an enforcement department and an administrative department . The investigative departments are on the one hand (spatially) responsible for certain district courts, on the other hand (factually) for certain areas of criminal law.

In 2013, incoming payments leveled off at the high level of previous years: 23,934 Js procedures, 15,287 UJs procedures, 1,787 OWi procedures. The peak load in 2007 is largely due to two collective proceedings conducted at the Konstanz public prosecutor's office in the field of child pornography against a large number of offenders from Germany and abroad.

The main part is made up of criminal investigation proceedings against accused persons known by name (so-called Js proceedings ). There are also proceedings for administrative offenses and proceedings against unknown perpetrators (so-called UJs proceedings ). The average distribution is as follows:

Insofar as proceedings were discontinued with the condition that a sum of money be paid, non-profit institutions and, to a lesser extent, the state treasury received considerable sums.

Proceedings at the Konstanz Public Prosecutor take an average of 1.2 months. Around 90% of the procedures are completed within the first three months.

The Konstanz public prosecutor's office enforces the decisions of the criminal courts . In addition, it enforces judicial fines, administrative fines or penalty payments , compensation for value (for confiscated objects) and enforcement detention . In proceedings under the JGG, however, the juvenile judge is also the enforcement officer. Accommodation

The public prosecutor's office is housed in three historic buildings in Konstanz. In addition, there is an - dependent - branch office in Villingen-Schwenningen, where traffic matters from the districts of the Villingen-Schwenningen and Donaueschingen district courts are processed. The district office building (Konstanz, Untere Laube 36) houses the administration management, two investigation departments and the enforcement department. In Lanzenhof (Konstanz, Torgasse 8) comprises two detection sections are housed. Finally, the traffic group of the Konstanz public prosecutor's office occupies some rooms in the Bischöfliches Spital building , the so-called small hospital (Konstanz, Torgasse 6), along with other judicial authorities.
