Sentō Yōsei Yukikaze ( Japanese 戦 闘 妖精 ・ 雪 風 , literally: "Kampffee Schneewind") is a science fiction novel cycle by Chōhei Kambayashi , which was also implemented as an anime .

action

33 years ago, an alien force called JAM launched an invasion of Earth through a hyperspace corridor over Antarctica . The United Nations-established Earth Forces were able to push the aliens back to a distant planet called Fairy . There the struggle continues, unnoticed by the majority of the world's population. On this planet, the Fairy Air Force (FAF) fights the JAM . The series shows the path of the pilot Rei Fukai and his fighter aircraft, the Yukikaze , an extremely advanced, almost sentient aircraft equipped with a high level of artificial intelligence , which can sense the presence of the JAM in its vicinity.

Characters

  • Rei Fukai ( 深井 零 , Fukai Rei ): Second Lieutenant (later First Lieutenant) Rei Fukai is the pilot of the Yukikaze and a member of the 5th Squadron "Boomerang" of the Special Air Force (SAF), a special unit of the FAF. Rei Fukai seems to be the only one who understands the Yukikaze. Fukai is a very reserved man who shows little interest in anything but the Yukikaze. His only friend is Major James Bukhar.
  • James "Jack" Bukhar ( ジ ェ イ ム ズ ・ ブ ッ カ ー , Jeimazu Bukkā ): Major James Bukhar's role with the SAF was never explained in the series, but one can assume that he is the commander of the 5th Squadron "Boomerang", a reconnaissance unit who also belongs to Rei Fukai and the Yukikaze. He is Rei Fukai's only close friend.
  • Rydia Cooley ( リ デ ィ ア ・ ク ー リ ィ , Ridia Kūrī ): Brigadier General Rydia Cooley is the commander of the Special Air Force, which was recruited against the JAM in the early days of the war. Before joining the FAF, she was an investment banker.
  • Edith Foss ( エ デ ィ ス ・ フ ォ ス , Edisu Fosu ): Captain Edith Foss is a psychologist in the service of the FAF. She is responsible for creating a profile of the Yukikaze and creating a profile of the JAM as a person.
  • Ansel Rombart : Colonel Ansel Rombart was the head of the FAF secret service. To get more information about the JAM, he wanted to become part of them. After becoming a JAM clone, he launches an attack on FAF headquarters.
