Josef Straka (golfer)

Josef "Sepp" Straka (born May 1, 1993 in Vienna ) is a professional Austrian golfer. He plays on the North American PGA Tour . In addition to the Austrian citizenship, he also holds the American citizenship.

Career

Straka learned to play golf at the Fontana Golf Club in Oberwaltersdorf . As a teenager, he moved to Valdosta , Georgia , where he attended high school and then the University of Georgia . Straka graduated from the university with a degree in business administration .

In 2017 he played his first professional tournaments on the second-rate Web.com Tour , where he won his first tournament in 2018. In 2019 he was the first Austrian to qualify for the North American PGA Tour . He played his first major at the 2019 US Open .

Private

Straka has a twin brother, Sam, who played on the golf team with him at the University of Georgia.
