Serafino Razzi

(Giovanni) Fra Serafino Razzi (born December 13, 1531 in Marradi ; † August 8, 1611 in Florence ), was an Italian composer and belonged to the Dominican order .

Life

Giovanni Razzi was raised to the priesthood in 1558 and took the religious name Serafino.

Razzi published a large collection of Lauden in 1563 . His collection Libro primo delle laudi spirituale is a compilation of different pieces of Florentine music from the second half of the 16th century and of different characters. It contains 91 pieces of music for one to four voices and basso continuo .

He was considered well traveled and kept diaries of his travels.

Razzi's sister was the religious sister and sculptor Maria Angelica Razzi.
