A Serbian passport ( Serbian Пасош pasoš ) is issued to Serbian citizens of all ages and is the most important document for international travel. The passport is issued by the Serbian Ministry of the Interior. If the citizen is abroad, it is issued by the respective embassy or by issued by consulates there .

The Serbian Interior Ministry began issuing biometric passports on July 7, 2008.

The current passports are issued in accordance with the 2007 Travel Documents Act .

Serbian passports have a burgundy cover , in accordance with the EU standard the passport has two inscriptions in gold letters: РЕПУБЛИКА СРБИЈА 'Republic of Serbia' , at the top ПАСОШ 'Passport' , on the bottom divided by the coat of arms . There is an RFID chip inside the document on the underside of the cover sheet. The inside shows the Serbian coat of arms in navy blue color, while the first side contains the name of the country and the word “passport” in three languages ​​- Serbian ( Cyrillic script ), English and French. The back cover contains information on consular assistance in the three languages.

The Serbian passport contains the following data:

  1. Photo of the passport holder (left)
  2. Type ("P" for passport )
  3. Country code ("SRB")
  4. Serial number of the passport
  5. Name of the passport holder
  6. Nationality ( Srpsko 'Serbian' )
  7. Date of Birth (Out)
  8. National identification number of the citizen (JMBG: Jedinstveni matični broj građana )
  9. gender
  10. place of birth
  11. place of residence
  12. Issuing authority (e.g. MUP Srbije PU Požarevac , Ministry of Interior Serbia, Administrative District Požarevac ' )
  13. Date of issue (DD.MM.YYYY)

The personal data card ends with the machine-readable zone (MRZ). The sibilants (š, č, ć, ž, đ) are written out (s, c, z, d). Further special characters are implemented according to the specifications of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). The RFID chip is also on the info card .

The personal data card is printed in Serbian ( Cyrillic script ), English and French , while the personal data is given in Serbian ( Latin script).

Scope and layout

The passport contains another 32 pages, e.g. for visas and border stamps. They have a range of bright colors - predominantly red, green, yellow and blue - as well as the Serbian coat of arms in the middle of each page. They are perforated in the lower area with the consecutive serial number of the passport and have watermarks with the respective page numbers.

Passport types

There are the following types of Serbian passports:

  • The normal passport issued to all citizens is
    • Valid for 10 years or valid for 5 years if the person is between 3 and 14 years old and valid for 3 years for infants under 3 years old.
    • The maximum processing time is 30 days for simple applications and 48 hours for urgent applications. The processing fee is 3600  RSD (around 30 euros).
  • A diplomatic passport is issued by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to diplomats , high-ranking officials, members of parliament and travelers from state-owned companies, as well as their immediate family members.
    • The period of validity is determined by the function - the passport is issued to diplomats and civil servants for as long as they are in office with their mandate.
  • An official's passport is identical in all respects to the diplomatic passport, but the privileges of diplomatic immunity are missing . It is issued to middle and legal officials, as well as non-diplomatic staff in embassies and consulates.
  • If you lose your passport abroad, an emergency travel document will be issued by the consulate or embassy so that you can re-enter the country.

Kosovo

The residents of Kosovo have the right to apply for a Serbian passport. This is issued by the Serbian Coordination Directorate. Residents of Kosovo who live abroad can obtain a Serbian passport at the respective Serbian embassy or consulates. Serbia does not recognize the validity of Kosovar travel documents . In order to prevent the evasion of the visa requirement for Kosovars of the EU, holders of passports issued by the coordination directorate are excluded from visa-free entry into the Schengen area .
