Kosovar passport
The passport of the Republic of Kosovo ( Albanian Pasaportë or Pasaporta e Republikës së Kosovës , Serbian Пасош Pasoš or Пасош Републике Косово / Pasoš Republike Kosovo ) is an identity document that has been issued to citizens of Kosovo since the end of July 2008 to be able to.
Background and description
At the end of July 2008, the UN administration in Pristina stopped issuing their travel documents. The passports remain the property of the Republic of Kosovo and are used for identification and legitimation vis-à-vis state authorities and also vis-à-vis private institutions and individuals.
Due to the high demand, especially from Kosovars living abroad, around 3500 to 4000 passports were produced in the initial phase. The fee is 25 euros , a higher fee is required to speed up the procedure. The validity is ten years.
This document is mainly recognized by those states that have also recognized the state independence of Kosovo.
A biometric passport has been issued by the Ministry of the Interior since October 2011 .
