Serdar (formerly known as Kyzyl-Arwat, Gyzylarbat, Gizil Arbat, Gızıl Arbat ) is a city in Turkmenistan .

location

Located about 220 km northwest of the capital Ashgabat , the city is located on the northern edge of the Kopet-Dag mountains in the Balkan welaýaty province at about 100  m above sea level.

The city is connected to the Trans-Caspian Railway and Europastraße 60 and has an airport.

population

The 1995 census counted 45,500 inhabitants, an increase of 26.6% since the last Soviet census in 1989.
