Serge Frechkop
Serge Alexandre Frechkop ( Russian Сергей Исаакович Фрешкоп ; * August 10, 1894 (or July 28, 1894 according to the old Russian calendar) in Moscow ; † December 1, 1967 in Brussels ) was a Belgian zoologist and mammal specialist of Russian origin.
Frechkop began his studies in Moscow in 1913, interrupted his studies because of the First World War and the Russian Revolution until 1921 and obtained his doctorate in zoology in 1924; In 1927 he settled in Belgium. He worked part-time in industry and in the afternoons at the Institute of Zoology at the University of Brussels with August Lameere . From 1930 he worked at the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium.
Like the German anthropologist Max Westenhöfer , he represented the thesis of the initial bipedia in mammals , according to which the original mammals showed bipedal forms of life. This theory is no longer accepted by the majority of today's scientists. In addition, with regard to the question of human origin, like Westenhöfer, he was of the opinion that humans are largely primeval creatures within the mammal series and cannot be derived from the great apes in any reductionist manner.
