Sergei Nikolajew (athlete)
Sergei Nikolayev ( Russian Сергей Николаев , English transcription Sergey Nikolayev ; born November 12, 1966 ) is a former Russian shot putter .
Starting for the Soviet Union , he finished seventh at the 1990 European Athletics Championships in Split and fifth at the 1991 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
In 1994 he joined Russia at the European Championships in Helsinki , but was eliminated without a valid attempt in qualifying.
In 1994 and 1998 he became Russian champion.
