Career
Sergei Tertyschny began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth division of HK Metallurg Tscheljabinsk , for whose professional team he made his debut in the second Soviet division in the 1986/87 season. After starting the following season at Metallurg, the defender moved to the first division and city rivals Metallurg, the HK tractor Chelyabinsk, after just four games . Following the participation in the Olympics in 1994 he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 in the eleventh round as a total of 275th player by the Washington Capitals , for which he however never played. Instead, he ran from 1994 to 1996 for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Portland Pirates .
For the 1996/97 season Tertyschny returned to Russia, where he received a contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . With this he won four titles in the following four seasons. At the European level, the left shooter was successful with Metallurg in the European Hockey League in 1999 and 2000 . He and his team also won the Russian championship for the first and only time in his career in the 1998/99 season . In the summer of 2000 Tertyschny signed a contract with HK Lada Tolyatti , for which he played for a year as well as for HK Awangard Omsk . After a year in which the Russian took a break from professional ice hockey, he was once again on the ice in his hometown from 2003 to 2006 for his ex-clubs HK Traktor Chelyabinsk and HK Metschel Chelyabinsk in the second-rate Wysschaya League .
