Sergei Wladimirowitsch Brylin ( Russian Сергей Владимирович Брылин ; born January 13, 1974 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who was active in the course of his career at HK CSKA Moscow , the New Jersey Devils and the SKA Saint Petersburg . Since the end of his career he has worked as a trainer.
Career
Sergei Brylin began his career at HK CSKA Moscow , for which he played in the Russian Super League for a total of three years from 1991 to 1994 . During this time he was selected in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a total of 42nd player by the New Jersey Devils from the National Hockey League . The attacker played for the Devils from 1994 to 2004 and from 2005 to 2008 for a total of 13 years, during which time he won the prestigious Stanley Cup three times in 1995, 2000 and 2003 . During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season , Brylin was again under contract in his Russian homeland and played for Chimik Voskressensk . At the club from the Russian Super League Brylin received on November 4, 2004 as a free agent a contract before he was active for another three years for the Devils after resumption of play in the NHL.
On July 11, 2008, Brylin left the Devils and signed a contract with SKA Saint Petersburg from the Continental Hockey League , for which he was active until 2011 and completed over 170 games in the KHL. In August 2011 he moved to Metallurg Novokuznetsk within the KHL , where he ended his career in 2012.
He was then accepted into the coaching staff of the Albany Devils .
