Sergio Caram
Sergio Caram (born October 19, 1967 (other sources cite October 18) in Salto , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan pianist.
education
Caram first studied at the Conservatorio Vicente Pablo in Salto with Irma N. Derrégibus . From 1985 he deepened and perfected his musical skills with Lidia Tróccoli in Montevideo. In the following year he received the opportunity to go to the USA as part of a student exchange scholarship. There he then studied on a four-year scholarship at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh . He graduated from Nelson Whitaker with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Piano Performance in 1990 with a degree in fine arts specializing in music . From there, Caram continued his life in the same year, this time with a scholarship from his US university for music education, to Brazil during the winter. Starting in 1991, he was tutored by Irene Weiss Peery in Utah for a year and a half .
Musical career
Caram, who now lives mainly in the USA in New Jersey, performed for the first time as a piano soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Carnegie Mellon University. In 1993 he won second prize at the Utah Mozart Festival competition in Park City . Two years later he received the third prize in the international competition in Hilton Head Island . In that year he also made his first appearance in Montevideo with the SODRE Symphony Orchestra. Piero Gamba acted as conductor on this occasion . In 1997 he appeared as a solo pianist with the Montevideos Philharmonic. In 1999 he gave a performance at the United Nations in New York in the Auditorium Dag Hammarskjöld . In the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires , he also played that year in the Salón Dorado several concerts. His first record, recorded in Englewood , came from that year and was followed by another two years later in Cologne . Caram also gave concerts in Washington, Ottawa, Rome and Brussels, among others.
