Sergio Marcelo Vázquez (born October 14, 1972 in Flores ) is a former Uruguayan football player on the position of a striker .

career

Vázquez began his professional career at Montevideo Wanderers FC , with whom he won the Torneo Competencia in 1990 .

In 1994 he moved to the Chilean professional league , where he was under contract for one season each with Deportes Temuco , Rangers de Talca and CD Antofagasta .

In 1997 he was signed by the Mexican club Necaxa , with whom he won the Mexican football championship in the winter of 1998 . After three years in the service of the Necaxistas , he spent three more years with the Mexican clubs UANL Tigres and Puebla FC . He then returned to the southern hemisphere , where he first found a brief engagement with Nacional Montevideo and then ended his active career in the ranks of the Rangers de Talco.

Vázquez played all three games for the Uruguayan U-20 national team at the 1991 Junior World Cup, which was so disappointing for them (last place in group D with 0: 7 goals).
