Sergio Martínez , full name Sergio Antonio Martínez Aguirre , (born October 13, 1974 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.85 meter tall goalkeeper Sergio Martínez was in the squad of the Uruguayan second division club Sud América from 1992 to 1993 . In the Primera División followed from 1994 to 1997 a station at Club Atlético Peñarol . The Aurinegros won the national championship title in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997 in the four consecutive years of its membership. Martínez is only in the first division squad in 1995 and 1996. During this period, at least in the Apertura 1995 and the Apertura 1996, a first division appearance for him is recorded. In 1998 he played eleven games for Villa Española in the Primera División. In the 1999 Apertura he played for Liverpool Montevideo . In the years 2000 to 2001 he went into a second engagement with Peñarol and was again part of the first team. In the Clausura 2000 there are three league appearances for him. In 2001 he will then also be led by Liverpool Montevideo, who are now part of the Segunda División . In the Torneo Clasificatorio 2002 he played four games for Bella Vista . National team

Martínez was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championships in Colombia in 1992 . Uruguay finished the tournament as vice South American champion. During the tournament he was used by coach Ángel Castelnoble six times. The following year he joined the team trained by Ángel Castelnoble at the Junior World Championship in 1993 and reached the quarter-finals. There you had to admit defeat to the host Australia. He was used four times during the tournament.
