Sıdıka Serpil Çelenk Güvenç (born August 1, 1948 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish author and translator .

Sıdıka Serpil Güvenç was born in Istanbul in 1948 as the first child of the lawyers Şekibe Hanım and Halit Çelenk . From 1955 she attended the Mustafa Kemal Primary School in Samsun . In 1960 she came to TED Ankara College. In 1972 she graduated from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Hacettepe University with a degree in chemistry as a chemical engineer. In 1971 she was arrested with Vahap Erdoğdu and friends. In 1972 she was imprisoned for three months with Sevgi Soysal .
Güvenç worked from September 1972 in the Iraqi embassy as embassy secretary. In January 1973 she started working as a chemistry teacher at Ankara University Medical School. Between 1974 and 1982 she worked in the Maden Tetkik Arama. From 1982 to 1984 she was a chemistry teacher at Tripoli College in Libya . She taught chemistry at TED Ankara College from 1986 to 2002. From 2001 to 2004, she completed a master's degree in political science and public administration at the Middle East Technical University .
Between 1998 and 2004 she was a member of the board of trustees of the “68 Foundation” ( 68'liler Vakfı ). She worked in the "Patriotic Front" ( Yurtsever Cephe ) and the "Workers Union" ( İşçi Birliği ) of Turkey. She was a candidate for the “Patriotic Front” MP for Ankara in 2007. Güvenç is a founding member of TİHAK (Foundation of the Human Rights Institution of Turkey). She still works actively in the “Left Front” ( Sol Cephe ) and in the “June Movement” ( Haziran Hareketi ).
Güvenç wrote articles on cannabis in the journal of the Professional Association of Chemical Engineers. Güvenç also wrote for Yeni Ülke, which Vahap Erdoğdu edited for two years. She has worked as an author for the following publications: Aratos Magazin, Sol Cephe, İşçi Birliği, Evrensel Kültür, RED, Evrensel, Cumhuriyet and Sol and is still working as a columnist on the Sol.haber portal. Güvenç is married to Kaya Güvenç and has two children.
