Serrasalmus eigenmanni , also Eigenmann's Piranha or Eigenmann Caribito, is a species of saw tetra native to tropical South America. It is also called Piranha Branca or Pirambeba.

genetics

S. eigenmanni is often confused with S. spilopleura . This is due on the one hand to insufficient geographical localization and on the other hand to a lack of diagnostic properties that can be used to differentiate the species.

distribution

Serrasalmus eigenmanni occurs in Venezuela , Brazil , French Guiana , Suriname and Guiana . The species has been caught in the following waters: Tocantins , Tapajós , Orinoco , Tacutu, Uraricoera, Approuaque, Mapuera, Uatuma, Negro, Jamari, Cinaruco-Orinoco, Rio Apure , Cano Igues Portuguesa, Cuyuni-Essequibo, Alto Orinoco, Caurarea and. It also occurs in the Rio Potaro.

Way of life

Nothing more is known about their way of life.
