The Servitenviertel is a Grätzl in the 9th district of Alsergrund in the district of Rossau . The quarter, whose name goes back to the Servite monastery founded in 1639 , extends between Währinger Straße , Schottenring and Rossauer Lände .

This area once consisted of several islands, which were separated by branches of the then unregulated Danube . The population earned their livelihood mainly from fishing and shipping.

The main attractions of the Servitenviertel include the Servitenkirche in Servitengasse with its church square, the Peregrini Chapel and the Rossau Jewish Cemetery , the oldest Jewish cemetery in Vienna.

The best-known company was the Lohnerwerke in Servitengasse 19, which, however, moved across the Danube in the course of their expansion.
