Servus (subtitle: in Stadt & Land ) is a German - language lifestyle and homeland magazine for the southern German - Austrian cultural area. Like the television channel ServusTV, the magazine is produced by Red Bull Media House GmbH .

Every month there are different editions for Austria , Bavaria and one edition for Germany as a whole.

In addition, the culinary magazine Servus Gute Küche , Servus Unser Garten , the children's magazine Servus Kinder and the e-commerce platform Servus are published in Austria under the umbrella brand Servus .

concept

The magazine deals with topics related to the areas of nature and garden, kitchen, living and stories from home (handicrafts, customs, etc.), all mainly related to the publication area of the respective issue. For example, a Swabian farmer's wife or her farm garden is presented in the Nature & Garden section, while only local dishes are presented in the Cooking section .

According to the publisher, it is mainly high-income middle-aged women who are looking for “the fulfillment of the longing for their own roots”. The target group is thus similar to that of Landlust .

Most of the editorial staff is not responsible for the texts, but relies on a large number of freelance authors.

expenditure

Austria

The Austrian edition has existed since 2010. The headquarters of the Austrian editorial team, which is also the magazine's headquarters, is located in the Vienna headquarters of Red Bull Media House GmbH. The production and distribution of the German edition is also coordinated from here.

Germany

One year after the start of the Austrian edition, the providers decided to bring a Bavarian edition onto the market as well, hoping for similarly high print runs as in Austria. The German edition is managed from Munich, where the German editorial office is based. This magazine differs in large parts from the Austrian version. In the German edition - in addition to the regionally independent reports (e.g. plants, gardens) - regional features of all kinds are presented in several articles. Until 2015 there were separate editions for Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, which differed in terms of some regional reports; Since 2016, the two editions have been almost identical in terms of reporting and only show (mostly minor) differences on the title page. Since spring 2017, the title pages have also been practically identical (difference: subtitles in Baden-Württemberg: Servus in Stadt & Land , in Bavaria: Servus in Bayern ). Individual reports now also deal with topics from more northern federal states.

Circulation statistics

With a circulation of 143,526 copies in the second half of 2016, the Austrian edition shows a much larger percentage than the German edition with 63,588 copies (2nd quarter 2017). In Austria Servus is currently (as of 2017) the most widely read monthly magazine.

Hello good kitchen and hello kids

Since 2011, the half-yearly offshoot Servus Gute Küche has existed in Austria , which as a cooking magazine is supposed to deal in depth with the kitchen section of Servus in Stadt & Land , here too the focus is on regionality. Servus Kinder , which appears six times a year with a total circulation of 45,000 copies (publisher information), is intended to present child-friendly content. Servus Gute Küche has a sold circulation of 38,108 and a widespread circulation of 39,604 copies (as of 2nd half of 2017).

Hello at the market square
