Seth (2005)

Seth , real name Gregory Gallant (born September 16, 1962 in Clinton, Ontario in Canada ) is a comic book author and illustrator. He received awards for his comic Actually, Life is Beautiful and the book design of the Peanuts Complete Edition. He attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and currently lives in Guelph, Ontario.

Works

Seth's main theme is North America in the past 20th century. In the story Actually, Life is Beautiful (1996, It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken - Montreal: Drawn and Quarterly , first published as a series of booklets Palookaville) , Seth describes how he got along with the cartoonist "Kalo", who appeared in published a cartoon in The New Yorker magazine in the 1940s . In this search for further drawings and traces of life from "Kalo", Seth reflects on his longing for the past.

In Clyde Fans (2004, Clyde Fans: Book One - Montreal) Seth describes the life story of the Matchcard brothers and the decline of the Clyde Fans company; it is set in the 50s.

Wimbledon Green (2005, Wimbledon Green - Montreal) is about the comic collectors scene. In short episodes, Seth describes the hunt of Wimbledon Green and its competitors for old, rare comic books.

Seth received the Eisner Award for the book design for the complete edition of the comic strip Die Peanuts , which has been published by the American publisher Fantagraphics Books since 2004 .
