Seth ( Japaneseセ ズ, initially MJSeiji , then also Seiji ; born August 9, 1972 in Japan ) is a Japanese musician and first appeared in 1993 under the name Seiji . He became known through his work in the solo project Moi dix Mois by the visual kei artist Mana .

activities

After Image

Seiji founded the band After Image in June 1993 together with a friend and keyboardist Hiron ( 飛龍 ) and two other members, guitarist Rayka (麗華) and bassist Miyu (美 優). The latter previously played guitar in the band Girl'e , together with the founders of Malice Mizer Mana , who was still called Serina at the time, and Közi . After Image had a rather mediocre success, but still released a mini-album on February 1, 1995 with the name 黒 い 結晶 (engl. Kuroi kesshou ). Furthermore, an omnibus album was also released in 1995 with the name Who's Next Cry-Max Pleasure Super ~ Loud, Trance and Violence for Extacy ~ , on which a track by the band could be found. In 1997 the band finally broke up.

Amadeus

After After Image's departure, Seiji formed a new band called Amadeus, whose line-up resembled After Image's except for Rayka's departure. The lack of a guitar meant that all the compositions, which by the way were almost exclusively by Hiron, now sounded strongly like an over-artificial synthesizer . Still, the band had more success than After Image. After the band had taken on the singer Nene as reinforcement, the first mini-album ル ー ト ヴ ィ ヒ の 肖像 (dt. Ludwig no shouzo) was released in February 1998 and a little later in September another mini-album called In the mist . Many lives were contested and also documented, finally the live video 冷 え た 心 に 闘 争 を (Eng. Hieta kokoro ni tousou o) was released on April 8, 2000 and shortly afterwards on June 13 the last album 未完 の 五線譜 と 暗闇 の迷宮 (Eng. Mikan no gosenfu to kurayami no meikyuu), which turned out to be a combination of the first two mini-albums with an additional track called ave maria . At the end of 2000 the band finally broke up.

AC Blandish / ONE

Nothing is known about Seiji's work in these two bands. He only stayed with both bands for half a year.

Brain hacker

Two months after the band was formed by Kazune, a former support keyboardist for Malice Mizer and drummer Masashi, who left the band in 2003, Seiji joined them. They were completed by two other members, guitarist Yossy and bassist Nobu, who were initially accepted as support at the end of 2002, but soon afterwards became official members in early 2003. Shortly afterwards their first album hΨ = 0 (read: h phai equals zero) was released, in the following months free copies of their maxi-single Coin / カ リ ス マ (dt. Coin / Charisma ) were distributed at their live concerts . In 2004 they finally brought the maxi single 繋 が れ た 瞳 の 中 の 記憶 ( Eng . Tsunagareta hitomi no naka no kioku ) on the market. After their last single ド ッ キ リ ホ ラ ー シ ョ ー (dt. Dokkiri horror show ) their release activities ceased, but there were still live concerts, most recently on January 15, 2007. Seiji is currently parallel to his activities at Moi dix Mois still a member of the band.

HIZAKI

While at Brain Hacker , Seiji was hired by the musician HIZAKI to sing the song Mizerable for his CD Dance with Grace . However , he stated on a comment CD, which was included in HIZAKI's Release Grace Special Package , that it was incredibly difficult to do the song justice. After that, Seiji appeared on a few lives with HIZAKI. Apart from this one song, there were no other activities with HIZAKI.

Moi dix Mois

At the end of 2005 the new singer Seth was introduced to the members of Mana's fan club mon + amour as the successor to Juka . However, until today there has been no official statement on his origin or his musical past from the record label Midi: Nette . It is believed that the band wants to prevent a major media hype, especially since Seth has not yet stopped his activities as the singer of Brain Hacker. Clear identifying features, such as Seiji's tattoos, have not yet been found in Seth, as he cleverly conceals the relevant areas (stomach and left upper arm). Seth's first activity within the band was the recording of the mini-album Beyond the Gate in early 2006 . Shortly before its release on March 3rd, Moi dix Mois gave their first concert in the new formation for Mana's fan club mon + amour, after the release, two European concerts followed on March 17th in Paris and on March 19th, Mana's birthday, in Berlin . The newly formed band was well received as before with the old formation, but there was a lot of criticism from the fans regarding the new singer. In their opinion, Seth is not comparable to his predecessor, his voice is not trained enough. Critics even claimed it was just an interim solution for mana.

Mana announced a monthly concert phase that should end in December 2006 with a so-called Last Year Party , a popular show event at which the band, together with several other artists, has regularly performed funny interludes, gags and parodies in recent years and of course also performed live. Between the lives Moi dix Mois performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig at the beginning of June . A somewhat uncomfortable experience for the band as the use of private cameras and the like was permitted during the concert. Mana expressed his displeasure about this in a later interview. At the beginning of October the maxi single Lamentful Miss was released , which in addition to the theme track also contained two remixes of songs from the Juka era, forbidden and Perish . When everything came together for the Last Year Party , everyone had to come up with a concept for their part of the show. Seth appeared as 梅 沢 背 酢 男 ( Eng . Umezawa setho ) with a vocal part, which was supported by drummer Hayato with special effects. In March 2007 the album DIXANADU was finally released . In the same year the European tour DIXANADU - faited raison d'être EUROPE tour was contested. The concert in Paris during this tour was released on live DVD in 2008. D + Sect came out on the market in 2010 as the fifth studio album .

Art cube

After the band Brainhacker split up, Seth, who is active as a singer with Moi dix Mois, founded together with the former Brainhacker members Yossy, NoBu and Kazune, who now call themselves Y, N and M, together with drummer Shizuki (previously Pierrot ) the band Art Cube . According to the band members, Art Cube sees itself as the second part of Brainhacker itself. The declared concept of the band is "Only darkness illuminates the world of Tribal Gothic", accordingly the band is characterized by a dark sound. The musical spectrum includes ballads, fast songs, piano and flutes. Since the band made their debut in the Meguro-Rock-Maykan-Halle, their aesthetic and musical sound has developed steadily, and the band managed to release a European press of their mini album Shitsu Raku chou and to play two more concerts in France . Keyboardist M had to leave the band due to health reasons. Nevertheless, the band released a best-of album in December on the occasion of their third band anniversary.
