Sevil Shhaideh , b. Geambec , (born December 4, 1964 in Constanța ) is a Romanian politician of the PSD .

She belongs to the minority of the Tatars of Muslim faith who have their stronghold around Constanța in Romania, where Shhaideh was also born. She graduated from the Bucharest Business Academy , which she graduated in 1987. After that she worked as a programmer and from 1991 she worked in the administration of Constanța County . In 2011 she married the Syrian Akram Shhaideh.

In 2012 Shhaideh became State Secretary in the Liviu Dragnea- led Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration. After his resignation in May 2015, Shhaideh became a minister in the fourth cabinet of Prime Minister Victor Ponta . Shhaideh was the first female minister to put her hand on a Koran during the oath of office. After the protests following the fire in Bucharest , the government, and with it Sevil Shhaideh, resigned in November 2015.

After the parliamentary elections in Romania in 2016 , which the PSD won, the PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea proposed Prime Minister Klaus Johannis Sevil Shhaideh as Prime Minister in December 2016 , but he refused. Instead, Sorin Grindeanu was elected Prime Minister in January 2017 . In his cabinet , Shhaideh was re-appointed Minister for Regional Development and Public Administration and also Deputy Prime Minister. On June 29, 2017, Shhaideh again became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration in the Tudose cabinet . After allegations of corruption, Prime Minister Mihai Tudose called for her resignation. On October 12, 2017, Shhaideh resigned.
