Sexy Parodius ( Japanese: セ ク シ ー パ ロ デ ィ ウ ス , Sekushī Parodiusu ) is the third of four parts of an arcade shoot-'em-up game series by Konami , which followed Parodius Da (1990) and Gokujō Parodius (1994) in 1996 alongside various Parodius Sequels for console appeared. The successor Otomedius ( オ ト メ デ ィ ウ ス ) was released in 2007 and later also for the Xbox.
In the third arcade chapter of the Gradius parody series, a unique group of reward hunters must stop some unusual criminals, such as: For example, a giant cob of corn terrorizing the local chickens, fleeting geisha thieves, or baby kidnapping penguins to win their ultimate goals (world peace, a fat bounty, a big mansion, and easy girls).
The game is characterized by colorful 2D graphics, unique characters and branching paths that appear depending on the player's performance. In addition, there are many individual weapons to choose from, which can be upgraded with power capsules, to fight the mostly female characters "freely". The game parodies Konami's own Gradius series and Konami’s 1985 Yie Ar Kung-Fu .
The music in the game consists of numerous remixes of compositions by famous artists. A remix of Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart can be heard in the character selection picture, and a remix of Summ, summ, summ by Hoffmann v. Fallersleben . The level 4 boss music is a mega mix of bees humming around! (Bohemian folk song) and entry of the gladiators by Julius Fučík as well as works by Beethoven and many others.
A limited edition soundtrack for the game was released by King Records (Sexy Parodius Original Game Soundtrack - KICA-7703) on May 22, 1996.
Implementations of the game appeared (1996) for the Sega Saturn and the Sony PlayStation .
