Shōji Satō ( Japanese 佐藤 翔 治 Satō Shōji ; born September 19, 1982 in Higashimurayama , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a badminton player from Japan . He plays for the NTT East factory team .

Satō is considered one of the fastest players in the world.

Career

He was Japanese champion four times between 2003 and 2006 . In 2001 he also won Giraldilla International and in 2003 Wellington International . In 2004 there was another victory at Swedish International Stockholm .

Sato played at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , but there he was eliminated against the number 5 seed Bao Chunlai from China .
